Plain English summary: We collect only what we need to run the platform. We don't sell your data. You can request deletion of your data at any time. We're compliant with New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020.

1. Who we are

Briiq Limited ("Briiq", "we", "us") operates the Briiq marketplace at briiq.cc and briiq.cc. We're a New Zealand company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in accordance with New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020.

3. How we use your information

To operate the Briiq marketplace and match buyers with relevant businesses
To verify business identity and maintain trust scores
To send transactional emails (quote notifications, OTP codes, payment receipts)
To process payments via Stripe
To prevent fraud and misuse of the platform
To improve the platform and understand how it's being used

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your data to any third party.

4. Who we share information with

We share information only as necessary to operate Briiq:

Businesses receive buyer contact details only after a quote is accepted and the unlock fee is paid. This is the core function of the platform.
Supabase: our database provider, hosted in AWS.
Stripe: payment processing and identity verification.
Resend: transactional email delivery.
Netlify: website and serverless function hosting.

All our service providers are required to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.

5. Buyer privacy

Your contact details (email, name, phone) are never shared with businesses until you accept a quote. Job descriptions do not include your personal contact information. You control who sees your details by choosing which quote to accept.

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal or tax purposes.

Job requests and quotes may be retained in anonymised form for platform analytics.

7. Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

Request access to the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
Complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you believe your privacy has been breached

8. Cookies

Briiq uses only functional cookies necessary to operate the platform (e.g. keeping you signed in). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking scripts.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), Row Level Security on our database, and timing-safe verification for sensitive operations. Payment card data is handled exclusively by Stripe and never touches our servers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify registered users of material changes. The current version is always available at briiq.cc/privacy.
